Bloomingdale High School Theatre has a new Producing Artistic Director!

Dr. Chad Cornwell steps into the Producing Artistic Director role at Bloomingdale High School in August 2025. Cornwell comes to Bloomingdale with a wealth of education and experience in scholastic, collegiate, community, and professional theatre. He earned his BA, in theatre and organizational communication, his MFA in musical theatre, his MM in voice performance and pedagogy, and his EdD in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Dr. Cornwell moved to Florida with his family in 2009 and began his teaching career at Terrace Community Middle School. Most recently Cornwell was the technical director and technical theatre teacher at Progress Village Middle Magnet School for the Arts.

Dr. Cornwell also had a professional certificate in arts management. “Our philosophy in arts education is to encourage and educate generations of arts appreciators, arts funders, arts educators, and artists.” Bloomingdale High School has an outstanding tradition of excellence in their band, chorus, and orchestra programs, and Cornwell plans to contribute to the arts program while supporting the successes of those existing groups.

This is a season you won’t want to miss. Bring the entire family for laughs, clean and fun storytelling, beautiful sets, costumes, and brilliant technical theatre.

Fine Arts at Bloomingdale High
You won’t be disappointed in any of the arts programs at Bloomingdale High School. In addition to the theatre program, the community can enjoy the BSHS bands, including The Rajun' Bull Marching Band and Colorguard (www.bloomingdaleband.com), the choruses, orchestras, and more!

History
Troupe 4235 has been bringing the magic of theatre to our community since 1988, the year Bloomingdale High School first opened its doors.
Fun fact: the very first drama production was a senior performance of Grease in December 1988. The drama club boasted nearly 100 members!
